Hi,
No email last Monday, sorry about that. This one starts with something two people asked me on X: how I get founders to answer cold messages. The short answer is that about 1 in 4 do. The longer one is what happens after that, which is the part I'm still working out.
The first message
Since the end of September I've written to around 140 SaaS founders, one by one, mostly on X. The first message doesn't mention HAGGIN. It says where I found them, one thing I noticed on their pricing page and one question about it. Last week I asked a founder how many of his users pick the yearly plan, since it's half the price of monthly. About 3%, he said.
They know the answer and it takes them a few seconds, so on X about 1 in 4 reply. It's been like that for weeks. On LinkedIn and email it was around 7%, so I stopped using them.
The second message
When someone answers, I tell them what I'm building, and that's where most conversations stop. Some of the answers from the last two weeks:
"Why do I need it, I already did that with Codex".
"The styling is way off from ours".
"It's not for us right now. We're keeping our pricing as it is".
And one founder wrote back "still didnt understand..", which was fair. I had explained HAGGIN in general terms. So I sent him an example with his own product: someone buys one of his credit packs, uses it, the 90 days run out and they don't buy a plan. He emails them a link, they offer something like $25 a month if they pay the whole year, and he accepts, counters or says no. I'm writing every second message like that now, with their product in it.
This week
No new signups, no new pages and no offers. There are 11 pages published, 1 offer and 1 deal, same as last Friday. Since the end of September, 11 founders have signed up with the link I send in DMs, and none of them pays yet.
The pages still get almost no visits. Since October 12 the founders' pages got 3, plus one Saturday when 7 of them got exactly one visit each, which looks like one person or a bot clicking through all of them.
I also changed my own price. Pro was $29 a month and I was giving away 60 days to the founders I talked to. Now it's $9, and the first month is $1, refunded if no offer arrives in 30 days. I can't show results yet, and $29 was a lot to ask for that.
And one founder I've been talking to since September launched his product this week. His page is ready for the people on his waitlist who don't buy in the first days.
What I'm doing next
Most founders with paying customers already have a list of people who cancelled or let the trial run out. I'm going to help a few of them send each of those people a link from their own email, asking what they'd pay to come back. They already know the product, so nobody has to find the page first.
If you have a SaaS with customers who cancelled and want to try it, reply to this email and I'll set it up with you. If you just want to see what it looks like, it's here: hagg.in
Luis
